Police launch investigation into Blessing CEO’s cancer claims
Popular Nigerian social media critic, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has revealed that a petition he filed against controversial relationship therapist, Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, has been approved for investigation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The development follows widespread controversy over Blessing CEO’s claim that she was battling stage four cancer.
On March 25, 2026, Blessing CEO posted a viral video on her Instagram page in which she tearfully alleged that she had been diagnosed with advanced cancer. In the video, she displayed signs of hair loss, which she attributed to the illness. She also announced that she had begun auctioning some of her properties to raise funds for treatment.
However, the situation took a dramatic turn after the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), Delta State chapter, disowned a histology report circulating online and linked to her. The association stated that the document had allegedly been altered from an original report belonging to another patient diagnosed with breast cancer.
Earlier, Blessing CEO had shared the report publicly to support her claims while appealing for financial assistance.

Following intense backlash and accusations of manipulation, she later retracted her statement, saying in an interview, “I don’t have stage four cancer. That was a miscommunication.” She also disclosed that she received a total of ₦13 million in donations before deactivating her social media account.
Reacting to the development, VeryDarkMan said he decided to file a petition after personally donating money, believing her story.
“I believed her because she shaved her hair and I felt compassion. On that very day, I didn’t have anything left in my account, but I still transferred money to her,” he said in a video shared on his Instagram page.
Expressing disappointment, he noted that many people genuinely battling cancer deserve empathy and support.
“There are a lot of people living with cancer. How can someone come out and joke with something like this?” he added.
VDM confirmed that he has formally submitted a petition to the police, adding that the Inspector General of Police has already assigned the case for investigation.
