[VIDEO] Angela Okorie tenders unreserved apology to Mercy Johnson, family

Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has publicly tendered a heartfelt and unreserved apology to her colleague Mercy Johnson Okojie, her children, and her family in a video message shared on Instagram on Thursday, February 5, 2026.

The apology came amid a widely reported feud between the two actresses that escalated into a cyberbullying case, which saw Okorie arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force’s Cybercrime Center in Abuja and remanded at Suleja Prison before being granted bail.

In the emotional video, Okorie expressed deep remorse for her past actions, acknowledging that her words and online posts about Johnson had caused hurt and misunderstanding over the years. She directly addressed Mercy Johnson, saying she was “deeply sorry” for anything she may have said or written that brought pain to her or her family. Importantly, Okorie retracted past damaging claims, including hurtful labels that had been attributed to Johnson, clarifying: “You’re not a witch, and you’re not what people have been saying about you.”

Referring to growing older and evolving priorities, Okorie explained that industry rumours and third-party gossip once fueled tensions between them, but she now wants peace and reconciliation. She also highlighted the importance of setting positive examples for their children—who could one day meet and become friends—rather than letting public feuds affect their lives.

Addressing both Mercy Johnson and her fans, Okorie said she had no ill feelings, and extended her love and prayers for Johnson’s continued success and well-being. She described the moment as a “new beginning,” reaffirming her willingness to move past conflict and to interact with Johnson respectfully in the future.

The apology has since sparked reactions across social media, with many followers applauding the gesture as a step toward maturity, unity, and peace within Nigeria’s film industry.
