Paul Merson has shared his thoughts on Manchester United’s Premier League title chances for next season, expressing doubts about their readiness to compete for the crown.

Following the arrival of Michael Carrick as interim manager in January, replacing Ruben Amorim, United have seen an upturn in form and currently sit third on the table behind Arsenal and Manchester City.

Despite the improvement, Merson believes the team is not yet equipped to challenge for the Premier League title next season.

Speaking to Sportskeeda, he said:

“I don’t think Manchester United are ready to fight for the title next season.

Their sole focus should be on getting back into the Champions League.”

According to Merson, securing a top-four finish and returning to Europe’s elite competition should remain Manchester United’s primary objective for now.
