Nollywood actor Solomon Akiyesi is dead
Nollywood has been thrown into mourning following the reported death of veteran actor and entrepreneur Solomon Akiyesi.
The tragic news was confirmed on Monday by Abubakar Yakubu, President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
According to Yakubu, Akiyesi passed away in his sleep on Sunday. He added that the actorβs remains have been deposited in a mortuary in Abuja, where the incident reportedly occurred.
The AGN president also stated that the guild is still awaiting further clarification from the family regarding the circumstances surrounding his death.
βYes, it is true. He died yesterday. He slept and did not wake up. We await further details from the family. His body is in the morgue in Abuja, where the sad incident happened,β Yakubu said.
, who hails from Edo State (Akoko-Edo/Ososo area), had a long-standing career in Nollywood and was known for his appearances in several notable films. He featured in productions such as Heart of a Saint, Desperate Ladies, Pretty Liars, and Bridge of Contract.
His sudden passing has left colleagues, fans, and the wider Nigerian entertainment industry in shock, with tributes beginning to pour in across social media.
As of now, details surrounding the cause of death remain unclear, pending official confirmation from the family.
