Rema to Headline 2026 FIFA World Cup Opening Ceremony Alongside Katy Perry and Future
Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Rema has been selected to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The award-winning singer, born Divine Ikubor, is set to perform in the United States as part of the opening celebrations across the tournament’s three host countries.
FIFA announced the development through an official Instagram post, unveiling a star-studded lineup designed to reflect the cultural diversity of the host nation, the United States.
Other confirmed performers include Future, Katy Perry, Anitta, Tyla, and LISA.
According to FIFA, the opening ceremony scheduled to take place in Los Angeles will showcase the massive global appeal of the 2026 World Cup.
“Global superstars Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema, and Tyla will headline the celebrations in Los Angeles, with additional world-renowned artists still to be announced,” FIFA stated.
The football governing body added that the lineup “reflects the cultural diversity of the United States and the vibrance of its many diasporas,” while highlighting “the power of music to bring people together across the country.”
The performance marks another major international milestone for Rema, who continues to strengthen his status as one of Africa’s biggest global music exports.
Last Thursday, Colombian superstar Shakira unveiled Dai Dai as the official theme song for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, featuring Grammy-winning Nigerian artiste Burna Boy.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, with the tournament kicking off on June 11, 2026, at Estadio Azteca.
