Lojay, whose real name is Lekan Osifeso Junior, has shared insights into his early mindset about fame and how it has evolved since entering the music industry.
Speaking on an episode of the I Said What I Said podcast, the Monalisa crooner admitted that he initially saw becoming a pop star as an opportunity to womanise.
However, he explained that his perspective changed over time after realizing the importance of discipline for a long-lasting and successful career.
“There is a lot of temptation in the music industry. You will see a lot of things, but you are not meant to touch. I used to think I would frolic with a lot of ladies because there are babes everywhere. But when you have about 100 girls talking to you, that is when you need to cultivate discipline.
I realised if you want a long career like the Big 3, you have to stay away from too many girls,” he said.
Lojay also revealed that one of his biggest cultural shocks was discovering that the glamorous lifestyles of established artists—once appealing during his underground days—were not as exciting after he entered the mainstream.
He emphasized that the music industry demands more discipline than many people assume, noting that artists are often cautious about their words and actions due to the need to protect their reputation.
The singer added that his personal values and personality have also helped him maintain a level of discipline, particularly when it comes to avoiding excessive womanising and living an extravagant lifestyle.
