Sevilla head coach Luis Garcia Plaza is counting on Nigerian striker Akor Adams to play a key role in the club’s fight against relegation this season.

XCLUSIVELAND reports that Sevilla secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid at home on Saturday night, ending their three-game losing streak in LaLiga.

The win lifted Los Rojiblancos to 15th position on the table, now sitting three points above the relegation zone as they continue their push for safety.

Akor Adams has been a standout performer for the team, having earlier opened the scoring for Plaza’s side against Barcelona. The Nigeria international is currently Sevilla’s top scorer in LaLiga this season, with eight goals in 26 appearances.

Speaking after the recent win, Plaza expressed confidence in Adams’ ability to contribute even more to the team’s survival bid.

“Akor still has more to give us because he’s capable. Rubén gave everything until his energy ran out. The academy players must also provide that extra energy, but everyone is important,” Plaza told the club’s official website.

With the season entering a decisive phase, Sevilla will be hoping Adams continues his fine form as they battle to remain in the Spanish top flight.
